The Compassion Flower Inn is located in eclectic downtown Santa Cruz in the heart of the thriving retail, restaurant, and entertainment district, only a short walk to beaches, the wharf, and the boardwalk. Guests love the convenience of walking around downtown or to the beach.
The inn is a beautifully restored 1860's Gothic Revival Victorian with four romantic guest rooms. The friendly owners, Andrea Tischler and Maria Mallek, took three years to restore and decorate the home. Maria, an artist who beautifully transforms whatever she touches, has delicately painted each room. All guests are treated to a visual fantasy of faux finishes, unique stencils, mosaic art, and beautiful period furnishings.

The Lovers' Suite is the inn's grandest, most inviting room. The suite has a private sitting room furnished with antique mahogany furniture and a gas fireplace, a recessed area with a beautiful antique double bed, and a view of the trees to the front of the inn. The sumptuous bath features a sunken tub surrounded by Maria Mallek's mosaic designs of hemp leaves and passionflowers, as well as a separate shower. The Lovers' Suite is lavishly hand painted with opulent faux finishes and stenciled walls.
The larger Blue Room is a beautifully decorated, comfortable retreat. The room features hand painted faux finishes and stencils, as well as furniture painted by co-owner/artist Maria Mallek. Enjoy the room's gas fireplace while relaxing in the antique double four poster bed. The room has its own gorgeous full bath with a granite-tiled shower.
The cozy Hemp Room is located in the eaves of the inn. Sunny and warm, the room is decorated with antique oak furniture and is hand-painted with a hemp leaf motif. The Hemp Room has a corner sink and shares a bathroom with the Passion Flower Room. The shared bath features a Victorian claw-foot bathtub, a perfect place to relax after a long day of enjoying Santa Cruz. The Hemp Room has a comfortable double bed.
Next to the Hemp Room, the Passion Flower Room is also nestled in the eaves of the inn, with a pleasant view of the trees to the front of the House. The room has a hand-painted Victorian d飯r, and a gorgeous double bed with burlwood accented headboard. Like the Hemp Room, this room has a small corner sink. |
